Job Description

  • Your contribution to something big:
  • The Group leader directs and coordinates activities of the AU software engineering department including:
  • Responsibility for Software Portfolio including new product development, maintenance and innovation of software, including hybrid and cloud (where applicable)
  • Enable the organization to deliver software of all projects on commitment: time, quality and cost.
  • Responsibility for software portfolio engineering resources at the same location
  • Provide technical/planning guidance to the software teams working in other locations
  • Establish programs to provide professional development of the R&D team
  • Coordinate software development way of working strategy to be prepared for the future and state of the art with other locations
  • Provide leadership and oversight to the Engineering staff to ensure that AU establishes and maintains required technological leadership in support of market requirements.
  • Understand and deploy AUDIO DIVISION SW development processes and standards across Engineering departments
  • Assure effective communications with other AUDIO DIVISION organizations.
  • Identify technology opportunities to address customer needs and create business opportunities
  • Participate in the audit and selection of software design houses and third parties as well as defining the KPIs to manage and monitor them.
  • Define the software engineering R&D strategy the department dealing with both internal and external partners to make our organization optimally successful short, mid and long term.
  • Accelerate and manage new product development to enable faster and broader penetration of the market.
  • Reports to the Director of R & D
  • Has direct reports: generally around 10-15 Associates

Qualifications

  • What distinguishes you:
  • A Master of Science in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or Physics, with a minimum of 15 years design experience, and 5 years management experience or equivalent blend of education and experience.
  • Solid working knowledge of software and hardware product design and construction
  • Specific knowledge of communications systems is desired
  • Proven track record of employing rapid product development techniques to optimize project implementation timelines within budget.
  • Knowledge and successful use of engineering development principles,
  • Knowledge of agile tools and techniques such as scrum, Kanban and SAFe is required
  • Experienced in a hybrid waterfall with agile development mixed projects
  • Ideally worked in both big organizational structure and ‘start up’ structure.
  • Experienced in leading multi-sites technical teams, connecting and inspiring people to develop and know how to motivate team members during difficult circumstances.
  • Ability to identify and assign resources toward specific product initiatives.
  • Outstanding team leadership skills.
  • Exceptional ability to present and communicate to different audiences.
  • Willing to travel between company locations and to and customer locations, including international.
  • A well-organized and self-directed individual with the ability to plan, organize and follow through/implement to achieve timely, accurate results, focusing on key priorities and effectively juggling multiple projects.
  • Strong analytical skills, strategic thinking and planning skills. Ability to turn ideas and concepts into a coherent technology strategy and road map.
