Position Overview

We are looking for a talented DevOps Engineer with a focus on Cloud and On-prem infrastructure to join our Technology Department.

As a DevOps Engineer, you will design, deploy, and manage our runtime infrastructure, ensuring it is secure, scalable, and cost-efficient. You will plan and implement our container orchestration and service mesh architecture, maintain multi-account AWS Organisation setups, and automate tasks to eliminate human intervention in repetitive processes. Your role includes regular system monitoring, performing maintenance, managing software patches and upgrades, and ensuring optimal observability and performance of systems and applications. You will also investigate and resolve infrastructure issues and create comprehensive documentation for peers and users.

  • Key Responsibilities
  • Design, deploy, and operate our runtime infrastructure
  • Plan and create the vision for our container orchestration and service mesh architecture
  • Design, deploy and maintain multi-account AWS Organisation architecture
  • Think about scale, reliability, and cost efficiency for our infrastructure
  • Maintain optimal observability on system and application availability and performance (logs, metrics, alerts).
  • Attain optimal levels of security and scalability
  • Automate all routine work (toil), eliminating human intervention from repetitive mechanical activity
  • Perform regular maintenance and house-keeping, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware resources, systems, and processes, as well as the successful completion of any automated jobs (e.g., config backups, disaster recovery)
  • Perform regular system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all runtime infrastructure
  • Rollout software patches and upgrades, ensuring the infrastructure is kept secure and compliant with best practices
  • Investigate issues to their root cause and resolution
  • Create and maintain the relevant documentation for peers and users (e.g. handbooks, tutorials)
  • A minimum of 3 years as a DevOps Engineer or in a similar role
  • Expertise in AWS (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC, etc.) and managing AWS Organisation and accounts
  • Experience with on-premises infrastructure and its integration with cloud services
  • Proficiency in containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, EKS)
  • Experience with Helm for managing Kubernetes applications and service mesh technologies, specifically Istio
  • GitOps experience including knowledge of tools like Argo CD, Crossplane, GitLab, etc
  • Experience with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform and Terragrunt
  • Experience with configuration management tools like Ansible, Packer
  • Experience with virtualised environments based on VMware ESXi is a plus
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools like Prometheus, Alertmanager, Thanos, Loki, and Grafana
  • Strong experience with programming/scripting languages (Go, Python, Bash)
