Job Title: DevOps Engineer (Kubernetes & Cloud)
Location: Lisbon or Setúbal (Portugal)
Work Regime: Full-time & Hybrid (minimum 2x/week on-site)
Overview / Summary:
We are looking for a skilled DevOps Engineer with expertise in Kubernetes and public cloud environments. The ideal candidate will have experience in managing upgrades, ensuring smooth operations across AWS, Azure, and GCP, and driving automation to reduce manual effort. This role requires a proactive professional who can anticipate disruptive changes, support cloud integrations, and work closely with the client’s team to deliver reliable solutions.
- Responsibilities and Tasks:
- Plan and execute Kubernetes upgrades according to a cadence agreed with the client’s team
- Provide support across AWS, Azure, and GCP environments
- Assess feasibility of supporting future Kubernetes versions
- Work on approval and execution of ICRs
- Evaluate, identify, and prototype ways to reduce effort in Kubernetes upgrade processes
- Accelerate upgrades without downtime for Elasticsearch nodes
- Update cloud integrations in parallel with cluster upgrades
- Detect disruptive API changes in Kubernetes early and assess their impact
Requirements
- Mandatory Requirements:
- Education: Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- Proven hands-on experience with at least one public cloud (AWS preferred, Azure or GCP accepted)
- Recent DevOps project experience with Terraform (or similar IaC tool)
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, FluxCD, ArgoCD, etc.)
- Kubernetes and containerization experience
- Interpersonal skills: Problem-solving mindset, ability to work collaboratively with teams and clients, proactive in anticipating issues
- Languages: Fluent English; Portuguese is highly valued but not mandatory
- Stack Tech: Kubernetes, Terraform (or equivalent), CI/CD (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, FluxCD, ArgoCD), containerization tools
- Complementary Requirements:
- Experience upgrading Elasticsearch workloads in Kubernetes
- Cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Previous software development experience
- Knowledge of networking
- Experience with ArgoCD
- Familiarity with Spot.IO
