CYBERSECURITY ARCHITECT (NATO) - Position based in Brussels (Belgium)
Plexus.Tech provides a wide range of specialist services to military and security institutions (NATO, UN, EU, and National Government and Defence) We provide our clients with professional services, specialised aerospace and defence sales, delivery, and operational subject matter expertise. We are currently seeking personnel to join our team and provide support for crucial client projects.
We are hiring a Security Architect to develop robust security frameworks for the NATO C2 air and missile defense platform, protecting against evolving threats while enabling interoperability. This role is open to experts from cybersecurity in critical infrastructure, financial services security, healthcare data protection, or government IT security, bringing transferable skills in risk management and compliance. You will design controls, conduct threat modeling, and integrate security across the lifecycle from architecture to testing in both lab environments and operational exercises. Platform systems adhere to NIST, DISA STIGs, NATO, and DoD guidelines. Contribute to global defense in the cyber domain alongside a supportive, innovative team.
- >> Role Duties And Responsibilities?
- Junior Level: Support vulnerability assessments, basic security design, and implementation using tools like Nessus or OpenVAS; assist in documenting security architectures, policies, and controls; participate in compliance audits, risk registers, and basic threat modeling; contribute to security requirements gathering and integration planning; knowledge of security principles and tools like firewalls or encryption basics; support vulnerability scans and documentation; help with initial security scans and reporting in dev environments; collaborate on embedding security in early lifecycle stages.
- Mid-Level (Building on Junior): Design secure architectures incorporating zero- trust models, encryption protocols, and access controls; conduct detailed threat modeling and risk assessments for C2 systems; implement and configure security tools for data protection and monitoring; collaborate on security integration testing and remediation in dev pipelines; proficient in threat modeling and secure design patterns; design security controls and conduct architecture reviews; facilitate security reviews with NATO partners; develop metrics for security posture evaluation.
- Senior Level (Building on Mid): Lead comprehensive security strategy for multinational platforms, ensure alignment with NIST 800-53, NATO cybersecurity standards, and advanced compliance; oversee penetration testing, incident response planning, and security governance; integrate with IAM, encryption, and endpoint security systems; advise on cybersecurity adaptations from adjacent areas; mentor teams on cutting-edge practices like AI-driven threat detection; advanced knowledge of zero-trust architectures and compliance auditing; lead security strategy, integrate with identity management, and oversee testing.
- >> Mandatory Skills And Experience?
- Valid National or NATO Secret personal security clearance (active clearance preferred). Plexus.Tech can help you with that.
- Required (All Levels): Bachelors degree in Cybersecurity, Information Security, Computer Science, or equivalent; NATO Nation citizenship.
- Junior Level: 3 years in cybersecurity or IT security roles; CompTIA Security+ or equivalent entry-level certification.
- Mid Level (Building on Junior): 5 years in defense or enterprise security; CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) or CISM.
- Senior Level (Building on Mid): 7+ years; CCSP (Certified Cloud Security Professional) or advanced CISSP concentrations; Master degree in Cybersecurity.

(All Levels): Background in adjacent fields like financial or healthcare security; certifications such as GIAC Security Essentials or Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP); experience with tools like Splunk or Qualys; knowledge of blockchain or quantum-resistant security;
