We are looking for a Security Officer to join our team in Porto, Portugal.

  • What you will be doing:
  • Define, implement, and continuously improve security policies, procedures, and protocols aligned with business objectives and risk tolerance;
  • Own and oversee the daily operation of Katalist’s security infrastructure, including systems, networks, and cloud environments;
  • Design and implement security architectures that are embedded into the development and deployment of new systems and platform capabilities;
  • Ensure security is integrated by design across all engineering and product initiatives, acting as a key partner to engineering teams;
  • Monitor, detect, and respond to security incidents, leading investigations and ensuring proper resolution and mitigation;
  • Conduct regular security audits and risk assessments to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations;
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans;
  • Lead security awareness initiatives and training programs, embedding a security-first mindset across the organization;
  • Stay ahead of emerging threats, continuously evaluating and improving our security posture, tools, and practices.
  • What we are looking for:
  • Proven experience in Cybersecurity, Security Operations, or Security Management roles;
  • Degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field;
  • Strong understanding of network security, cloud security, and secure system architecture;
  • Hands-on experience with security tools, incident response, and risk assessment methodologies;
  • Ability to translate complex security concepts into practical solutions within engineering and business contexts;
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks and standards (ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR, etc.);
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail;
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with engineering, product, and leadership teams;
  • Strong communication skills and ability to drive security awareness across the organization;
  • Proficiency in English is mandatory (written and spoken).
  • What would be a plus:
  • Experience in cloud-native environments and modern architectures (e.g., microservices, APIs, iPaaS);
  • Experience building or scaling security practices in fast-growing startups;
  • Background in software engineering or infrastructure.
