We are looking for a Technical Lead Data Scientist to join our team at JTA. In this role, you will be instrumental in shaping our Data Science department, driving R&D for new solutions, and providing guidance to less experienced team members. You’ll collaborate closely with business stakeholders to understand their objectives and translate them into actionable insights. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Python, Machine Learning, and Data Science, with a proven track record in managing the full Data Science lifecycle—from concept to delivery—along with excellent coding skills and adherence to best practices.

• What you will be doing:
• Help shape JTA’s Data Science department.
• Have a strong impact on R&D of new technologies, taking advantage of JTA’s clients large databases to proactively propose and conceptualize new solutions.
• Interact directly with business stakeholders and clients to understand business objectives and translate them into your work;
• Help shape the career development of more junior team members.
• Ensure continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) of existing solutions and actively participate on code and algorithm reviews.

• Requirements:
• Master’s, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or a related field.
• 3+ experience in Python, Data Science and Machine Learning.
• Proven track record on taking ownership of the full Data Science lifecycle, including the conceptualization, implementation and communication to the stakeholders of the solution.
• Strong balance between theoretical foundations and implementation skills.
• Capable of supporting the work of more junior positions and interconnecting its efforts with remaining development teams (e.g., Data Engineering and DevOps).
• Strong programming capabilities, with an emphasis on following best practices in software development to create robust and maintainable solutions.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset.

Location:

We’re based in Porto, Portugal. Although there is the possibility of remote working, we are only considering people located in Portugal.
