What We’re Looking For

  • We are seeking a Senior Protection Engineer who has:
  • DSO/TSO Project Experience: Proven track record of working on projects for DSOs and TSOs.
  • Protection Relay Expertise: Hands-on experience with multi-vendor IED’s/Software
  • Testing & Commissioning: Extensive experience with relay testing software (e.g., Omicron Test Universe, ISA)
  • Communication Protocols Knowledge: IEC61850, Experience in GOOSE messaging, MMS protocols, and station bus architecture, IEC 60870-5, Modbus, etc.
  • Software Skills: Proficiency in ETAP, DigSILENT PowerFactory, PSCAD, or similar power system simulation tools.
  • Field Experience: Strong background in FAT, SAT, troubleshooting, and maintenance of protection systems.
  • Thrives in problem-solving and enjoys working in collaborative teams.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills to guide teams and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Senior Protection Engineer will engage in the following tasks:
  • Design and Development: Develop protection schemes for MV, HV and EHV substations, including relay coordination studies, settings calculations, and relay logic design.
  • Configuration & Testing: Configure, test, and commission IEDs ensuring compliance with DSO and TSO standards.
  • Implementation & Commissioning: Lead the implementation of protection schemes, including the integration of protection relays into SCADA systems. Perform factory acceptance tests (FAT) and site acceptance tests (SAT).
  • Technical Support: Provide expert guidance in troubleshooting and fault analysis of protection systems. Participate in root cause analysis of protection failures and develop solutions for improvement.
  • Project Execution: Work closely with DSO/TSO clients, engineering teams, and field personnel to ensure project deliverables meet technical, quality, and regulatory standards.
  • Compliance & Standards: Ensure designs comply with international standards such as IEC 61850, IEEE, NERC, and local grid codes.
  • Training & Mentorship: Support the development of junior engineers and provide training on protection relay settings, testing methodologies, and system operation
