We are looking for a Python Data Developer to join our team. This role sits at the core of our Data Science team, playing a vital part in designing and building robust, scalable, and optimized Python-based data solutions. You’ll work closely with data scientists to translate research and business objectives into production-grade code and high-performance data pipelines. The ideal candidate combines strong software engineering skills with a deep understanding of data workflows, helping bridge the gap between experimentation and deployment across diverse projects.

  • What you will be doing:
  • Collaborate with the Data Science team to build and optimize high-performance, production-ready data pipelines in Python.
  • Help shape the Data Science department's technical foundations and engineering best practices.
  • Explore and prototype innovative data solutions by leveraging large-scale datasets from JTA's clients.
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and participate in code and architecture reviews to ensure robust delivery of data science applications.
  • Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in Python development, focused on data processing, automation, or scalable pipeline architecture.
  • Proven track record building efficient, reusable, and well-tested data workflows supporting analytical or ML use cases.
  • Solid experience with optimized data processing libraries (e.g., polars, numba, ect).
  • Strong understanding of software development best practices: modularity, testing, version control, and documentation.
  • Excellent communication skills and a strong sense of ownership and collaboration.

Location:

We’re based in Porto, Portugal. Although there is the possibility of remote working, we are only considering people located in Portugal.
