Data Analytics Lead - PowerBI - Lisbon (hybrid / remote)
Overview
#TeamCandour are looking to onboard a highly skilled Data Analytics Lead with advanced level proficiency in PowerBI & other reporting tools to join their thriving international financial services client working on a hybrid basis out of their office in Lisbon. This role is pivotal in designing, implementing, and managing reporting solutions and self-service analytics capabilities across the organisation.
As a bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams, you will ensure data is accessible, reliable, and actionable to support informed decision-making.

- Responsibilities
- Strategy & Vision: Developing and communicating a clear vision for reporting and self-service analytics, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and data strategy.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborating with business units, leadership, and IT to gather reporting requirements, understand business challenges, and prioritise initiatives.
- Solution Design & Delivery: Leading the design, development, and deployment of robust reporting frameworks and self-service tools (e.g., Power BI, Dataiku) to ensure scalability and ease of use.
- Enablement & Training: Driving user adoption by creating training programs, user guides, and best practice documentation to empower users to build and interpret their own reports.
- Data Governance: Implementing and upholding data governance standards to ensure data accuracy, security, and compliance across reporting and self-service platforms.
- Continuous Improvement: Monitoring reporting usage and feedback to proactively identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and innovation.
- Team Leadership: Leading and mentoring the analytics chapter and enablement specialists to foster a culture of collaboration and excellence.
- Vendor & Tool Management: Evaluating, managing, and optimising reporting and analytics tools, working closely with vendors and IT for enhancements and issue resolution.
Qualifications
- To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in BI/reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Dataiku), SQL, and data modelling.
- Business Acumen: Strong understanding of business processes, KPIs, and how data supports strategic objectives.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data concepts for non-technical audiences.
- Project Management: Proven experience managing multiple projects, timelines, and stakeholders.
- Change Management: Demonstrated ability to drive adoption of new technologies and ways of working.
- Problem-Solving: Analytical mindset with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
- Leadership: Experience leading teams and fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
Day-to-Day
- A typical day in this role may include:
- Collaborating with business leaders to understand their reporting needs and translating them into actionable solutions.
- Leading the development and deployment of user-friendly reporting tools and dashboards.
- Conducting training sessions and creating user guides to empower colleagues to utilise self-service analytics tools effectively.
- Monitoring the performance and usage of reporting tools, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing enhancements.
- Ensuring data governance standards are adhered to, maintaining the accuracy and security of data assets.
- Mentoring and supporting the analytics team to foster a collaborative and innovative working environment.
- Engaging with vendors and IT teams to optimise analytics tools and resolve any technical issues.
