Job description Role

The Site operations specialist exercises independent judgment and usually works under minimal supervision, Station point of contact for Network Operations Centers (NOCs) and Field Operations key Internal customers:

Project Management, GFIM, Service Delivery and Service Assurance. The basic purpose of the position is to maintain the day-to-day O&M tasks associated with cable stations and other POPs.

This includes installation and testing of new network equipment, diagnosing and locating troubles, provisioning of new circuits, performance of daily routines to monitor network and equipment health, performing repair and maintenance and restoring service for optimal customer satisfaction.

Will provide 24/7/365 on-call support for all the sites and services under the site's responsibility on a rotatory basis.

Key Role Deliverables

Perform the tasks for the operations and maintenance of all stations. Perform the daily activities as per the respective schedule.

· Maintaining the terrestrial and subsea DWDM platforms and various Telecom equipment and network circuits. Perform tasks and work on all infrastructure within the site and support or maintain ILA repeater locations where applicable.

· Processing of new Circuit orders, ensuring the provision of new circuits is completed within the SLA.

· Interacting with local carriers for tail circuit ordering, delivery, testing and integration.

· Ensuring Network Trouble Tickets are reacted to and dealt with in a timely manner.

· Ensuring adequate sparing levels exist for the installed equipment.

· Implementation of transmission upgrades also on-site new builds.

· Installation and testing of diverse telecom equipment and accessories including proper labelling and keeping inventory databases up to date.

· Perform the housekeeping of technical areas, leased areas, and colocation rooms,

· Complete the Building and remote site Preventative Maintenance in accordance with the maintenance schedule.

· Will provide 24/7/365 on-call support for all the sites and services under the site's responsibility on a rotatory basis.

Ideal Experience Profile

· 2-5 years of telecommunications industry experience

A knowledge of telecom products and services with international experience is highly desired, which includes:

· SDH/PDH

· WDM/DWDM

· MPLS

· IP and Ethernet

· Fiber Characterization and handling (OTDR, OSA, Testsets)

· Where applicable, experience of subsea cable maintenance

· PFE

· SLTE

· Submarine Fault Location (LME, COTDR, OSA)

· Knowledge or experience in infrastructure and building maintenance

· Electricity backup systems: Generators, UPS, DC and Battery Plants.

· Electricity

· Air Conditioning Systems

· Fire & Security Systems

· Building Management tools

· DCIM

· VISIO or AutoCAD

· Knowledge or experience in equipment and circuit inventory and monitoring tools
