Technical Support Engineer for Energy Systems

  • What you’ll be doing
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on SCADA systems
  • Diagnose and resolve communication failures involving RTUs and PLCs
  • Implement modifications to SCADA screens and supervision logic
  • Configure new field equipment and integrate it into existing systems
  • Provide technical support to end customers, working closely with field and engineering teams
  • Analyze network and protocol traffic using tools like Wireshark
  • Configure and troubleshoot gateways and protocol converters
  • Work with industrial communication protocols such as OPC, IEC, DNP3, and Modbus
  • Operate in critical environments, ensuring system reliability and continuity

What you’ll need to be successful

  • Educational Background
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Telecommunications, or
  • A technical/professional qualification with a strong focus on industrial automation or control systems

Technical Skills & Knowledge

  • SCADA systems operation and maintenance
  • Industrial communication protocols (valued):
  • OPC DA / OPC UA
  • IEC 60870-5-104 / 101
  • DNP3
  • Modbus (RTU / TCP)
  • Ability to:
  • Analyze network traffic (Wireshark)
  • Resolve complex communication failures
  • Configure gateways and protocol converters
  • Networks & Systems:
  • TCP/IP, VLANs, basic routing
  • Windows Server (services, permissions, firewall)
  • Virtualization (VMware / Hyper-V is a plus)
  • Valued (but not mandatory)
  • Experience in energy, water, or industrial sectors
  • Hands-on experience with RTUs
  • Programming or scripting experience (e.g. Python)
  • Experience with remote control / telecontrol systems

  • Hybrid setup: Remote work 2 days per week
  • On-site presence at the client’s facilities in Maia
