To provide advice and guidance at regional/divisional level and effectively manage a team of professionals and/or subject matter experts. Responsibilities may include interfacing with Corporate level management.

As a Manager in Planning & Engineering within the Network, you will be responsible for leading and managing a team of professionals, overseeing complex planning and engineering initiatives related to our commercial linehaul and network operations. You will provide expert advice and guidance at both regional and divisional levels, contributing to strategic decision-making and ensuring alignment with corporate objectives. Your role involves collaborating with senior management and external stakeholders to drive operational excellence and innovative solutions within the air network.

  • What You Will Be Doing
  • Recruit, develop, and manage a high-performing team within the Central Network Operations division. Provide coaching, guidance, and support to ensure team members achieve their objectives and are equipped with the necessary skills and tools.
  • Plan and organize resources to identify and develop goals related to network initiatives. Ensure alignment with divisional and corporate objectives, manage risks, and secure stakeholder buy-in. Present plans and strategies to senior management for approval.
  • Maintain and develop expertise in Commercial Linehaul standards, external regulations, and the broader business environment. Provide expert advice on complex issues and explore innovative opportunities and solutions for the air network.
  • Lead the design and implementation of process improvements and best practices that enhance network efficiency and performance.
  • Identify and analyze business challenges, opportunities, and constraints in air network operations. Make high-impact decisions and sponsor the implementation of solutions to ensure optimal results.
  • Conduct high-quality analysis, provide recommendations, and contribute to strategic planning for the air network. Develop and communicate reports and insights to key stakeholders, including executive and senior management.
  • Oversee projects and initiatives within the air network, ensuring successful delivery within time and budget constraints. Support your team with project management tools and lead the implementation of approved solutions.
  • Manage the departmental budget, optimizing costs and ensuring expenditures are reviewed and controlled within agreed practices and spend limits. Drive cost efficiencies without compromising on service quality.
  • Ensure departmental activities comply with internal FedEx policies, aviation regulations, and legal requirements. Identify opportunities for operational improvements and assess risks that may impact the air network and the broader business.
  • Develops and implements effective methods for the collation, analysis and reporting of key operational data (Commercial Lift, trucking, aircraft load factors, product mix etc). Ensures that standard and ad-hoc reports are providing for own and functional executive management, supported by appropriate recommendations and rationale. Participates, or ensures and appropriate team member participates in cross regional conference calls and service evaluations. Works with FP&A to ensure reporting an control in line with our accounting standards
  • Build strong relationships within your team and with key stakeholders across the business, ensuring effective collaboration. Maintain external alignments with customers, subject matter experts, and industry organizations as required.
