Job Description

The NPO Optimization Engineer is responsible for analyzing, troubleshooting, and improving the performance of 2G/3G, wireless and/or fixed networks to ensure optimal service quality and efficiency for subscribers.

  • How You Will Contribute And What You Will Learn
  • Continuously monitor network Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as throughput, latency, call drop rate, accessibility, retainability, and mobility for 2G,3G, 4G, 5G, and other relevant technologies.
  • Utilize network performance management tools (e.g., OSS, drive test tools, post-processing software) to identify performance bottlenecks and areas for improvement.
  • Conduct deep-dive analysis into network traces, logs, and performance statistics to diagnose root causes of performance issues.
  • Develop and implement optimization strategies to enhance network performance, capacity, and user experience.
  • Perform parameter tuning, feature activation, and configuration adjustments on network elements (e.g., RAN, Core, Transport) based on performance analysis and will evaluate the impact of network changes and new features on overall performance.
  • Collaborate with network operations, field engineering, and design teams to troubleshoot complex performance problems & can provide expert recommendations and solutions for resolving persistent network issues.
  • Generate regular performance reports, dashboards, and presentations detailing network health, optimization activities, and achieved improvements.
  • Stay abreast of the latest industry trends, technologies (e.g., 5G advanced, AI/ML for optimization), and best practices in network performance optimization.

Key Skills And Experience

  • You have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in network performance optimization for wireless (e.g., LTE, 5G) or fixed networks.
  • Strong understanding of wireless network architecture, protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, SIP), and radio access network (RAN) principles.
  • Proficiency with network performance monitoring tools (e.g., Nokia NetAct, Ericsson OSS, Huawei U2000, TEMS, Nemo, Actix).
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, SQL) for data analysis and automation is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • It would be nice if you also had:
  • Experience with specific Nokia network elements and solutions.
  • Knowledge of cloud-native network functions and virtualized network environments.
