WHO WE ARE

+ATLANTIC CoLAB is a not-for-profit R&D+I Portuguese Collaborative Laboratory that develops and delivers knowledge-based products and services across various domains of the blue economy, ocean sustainability, marine science, marine ecosystem health, climate change, ocean literacy, and science communication. Our multidisciplinary team leverages numerical modeling, remote sensing, data science, artificial intelligence, and space and ocean technologies to create these solutions and collaborate in national and international projects.
WHO YOU ARE

+ATLANTIC is seeking a skilled Web Developer with proven expertise in the field. Candidates should hold a Master’s degree (Grade 7) in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Management, or a closely related field. Those with foreign degrees or diplomas must provide proof of academic recognition after selection, as required under Decree-Law No. 66/2018. Fluency in both Portuguese and English, spoken and written, is a mandatory requirement.

  • In addition to this general profile, +ATLANTIC values candidates with:
  • Experience in front-end web development using languages such as HTML, JavaScript, CSS, or equivalent
  • Familiarity with web mapping frameworks like Leaflet and OpenLayers
  • Proficiency in Python and Flask
  • Experience working in Linux environments
  • Understanding of version control systems like Git
  • Knowledge of databases such as PostgreSQL
  • Experience with GeoServer and OGC standards
  • Background in data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes
  • Familiarity with multidimensional scientific data formats (HDF, netCDF, GeoJSON)
  • Experience using Pandas, Plotly, and Matplotlib frameworks
  • Knowledge of cloud computing services (AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI)
  • WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
  • The selected candidate will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining user-friendly web platforms, dashboards, and data visualization tools. As part of our Data Science and Web Development team, responsibilities will include:
  • Designing, researching, and developing tools to support +ATLANTIC’s data processing and analysis efforts
  • Maintaining and optimizing these tools for accessibility across +ATLANTIC teams
  • Debugging, troubleshooting, and testing/correcting processes within the codebase
