This team is responsible for connecting the Foundation's projects, such as Home Assistant and ESPHome, with the people who benefit from them most: users, contributors, and partners. By making it easier for people to discover, use, and get involved with our projects, the Open Home ecosystem can grow in a way that's aligned with our values.You will be the second web developer to join our growing team. Our web developers are responsible for all websites belonging to the Open Home Foundation, and you will play a key role in creating and maintaining these websites openly and collaboratively, enabling members of our community to contribute content and improvements. You will also work closely with our designers, copywriters, and marketers to build and maintain new websites, microsites, landing pages, and- apps that support our community and our marketing goals.This role is about more than just writing code, because you’ll help define how we present ourselves to the world. You’ll build performant,- conscious, accessible websites that reflect our values and support our global community. We are looking for someone who has the natural urge to experiment, be creative and push the boundaries of the modern web.What You Are Going To DoCreate, maintain and update websites within the Open Home Foundation portfolio.Enable community contributions to websites by setting up workflows, improving contributor experience, and supporting pull requests from the community that align with our goals.Develop, test, and deploy websites and landing pages for marketing campaigns, product launches, events, and other initiatives.Collaborate with designers to implement responsive and accessible- end interfaces.Work closely with the marketing team to improve site performance, SEO, usability, and accessibility standards.Collaborate with cloud engineers to manage website stack.What You Need To Have3+ years of professional experience working as a web developer.A strong background in JavaScript based frameworks and modern web standards.A strong understanding of Git for source control.A strong portfolio of marketing website work.Comfortable designing within constraints and iterating based on team feedback.Experience working collaboratively with other developers on a single project.Professional Fluency in English: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.European Residency: You must be currently based and eligible to work within Europe.It would be great if you also haveExperience using GitHub, Jekyll, Netlify, Cloudflare for website development with continuous integration workflows.Experience with the Eleventy framework.Experience with- end frameworks such as Lit.Background in immersive web experience / Web 3D projects such as ThreeJS.Familiarity with open source culture and workflow.A passion for tech, smart homes and automation.Experience as a Home Assistant user.What we offer YouThe Open Home Foundation is a fully remote organization that uses Remote to employ people from all over the world. You will be a normal salaried employee in your country.This is a- time position for 40 hours per week. Because we are a fully remote company, there is no fixed schedule. For the purpose of team communication, we do try to ensure at least 3 hours of overlap in the workday. You will report to the Marketing Lead, who is based in the Netherlands.Core to the establishment of the Open Home Foundation was the- being of the people building the future of the smart home.
