At Shakers, we’re partnering an AI-powered medical scribing platform that transforms patient–clinician conversations into structured notes. Their mission is simple yet powerful: simplify documentation and amplify care. By reducing administrative burden, improving documentation accuracy, and supporting clinician well-being, this platform is shaping the future of healthcare.

We’re looking for a seasoned Backend Engineer to join an agile team and play a key role in designing and maintaining the core services that power its AI-driven platform. You’ll work with modern technologies, contribute directly to improving healthcare delivery, and collaborate closely with Product, Design, and AI teams.

  • ???? ???? What you’ll do
  • Design and implement backend services in Python (FastAPI preferred)
  • Build and document clear, reliable REST APIs for web and mobile applications
  • Package and deploy services with Docker, automating deployments to AWS
  • Design schemas, write queries, and optimize performance in PostgreSQL
  • Manage flexible, unstructured data using MongoDB
  • Write tests, add logs and alerts, and monitor system performance and uptime
  • Proactively identify and resolve issues before they impact users
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product, Design, AI) to deliver meaningful improvements every week
  • ???? Requirements
  • Strong professional experience with Python backend development (FastAPI preferred)
  • Hands-on experience with containerized deployments (Docker) on AWS
  • Solid database knowledge with PostgreSQL and MongoDB
  • Proven track record of building and maintaining scalable backend services
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in agile teams

  • Experience in healthcare or related industries
  • Interest in Large Language Models (LLMs) and NLP technologies (no need to be an expert)
