The Work You’ll Do

The Backend Node.JS Developer is a problem solver that leverages technology to solve difficult problems at scale. This role challenges its owner to work quickly and effectively, sharing technical knowledge and leading the team to build and deploy high quality software that satisfies our customers.

• More Specifically You Will
• Competent in SDLC and an active participant in all major activities (Planning, Stand Up, Story Time, etc.)
• Develop skills using TDD and CI practices
• Function competently as an individual contributor, completing relatively small tasks independently
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Product Owners, Development Managers, Quality Assurance, Experience Design, and other technical staff to refine requirements and designs
• Participate on cross functional teams to deliver solutions from the point of inception through customer delivery
• Improve processes, standards and practices
• Work as a team member and with more senior developers on complex stories & tasks
• Pair program effectively with more junior & senior developers
• Develop programs consistent with Sovos coding standards & conventions
• Build skill in at least one specific technical expertise (Database, Web Development, etc.)
• Work with other team members to solve complex problems
• Capable of troubleshooting issues & bugs within their application of expertise
• Mentor less experienced members of our team
• Develop and enhance the user experience of our applications
• Contribute to our component library with well-crafted components that can be used by the entire development team, as well as add to our unit test suite (Karma and Jasmine based)
• Collaborate in a fast-paced agile environment under tight deadlines to “ship” new releases each sprint
• Take part in an active culture of learning by exploring new technologies, participating in knowledge shares, attending conferences, and collaborating with local developer bootcamps

• What We Need From You
• 3+ years of experience in software development
• It is important to have some background working in scrum teams.
• Back End knowledge – Important to have: Node.js, MySQL. It will be a plus: Redis, Java
• Front End knowledge – Important to have: React, Node.js. It will be a plus: Typescript, GraphQL
• System integration using Microservices and API technologies
• Know-how on working in a collaborative software development environment, using the best practices related with source control, creating and managing branches, creating and approving pull requests, using any tools that have these concepts in-placed, as for example Bitbucket, Git, or others.
• It will be a plus having experience using Docker, Kubernetes, Azure DevOps but not essential
• Open minded, willing to support and share knowledge to other team members, collaboration is an important value
• High sense of ownership
• Experience providing technical leadership and hands on team coaching experience
• Fluent speaking, writing and reading in English
